Empowering girls to forge their own path at Sydenham High School

Sydenham High School aim to inspire the future generations of creators, independent thinkers and trailblazers. They seek to empower every girl to discover and nurture her unique talents, whether in the classroom, the laboratory, the library, the studio, the field, the water, or beyond. The diversity of academic and enrichment opportunities, including their Socrates, 'Mind, Body & Soul' and Careers & Futures Programmes, enable every girl to forge her own path, striving to be her best.

As a high achieving school, academic excellence goes hand in hand with pastoral excellence. Sydenham High School is large enough to offer choice and flexibility, but compact enough to ensure that no girl is overlooked. Both selective and diverse, they welcome girls from 4 to 18 with wide-ranging talents and backgrounds.

The school’s original Anglo Saxon motto, ‘Nyle ye drede’, means ‘fear nothing’ and underpins all that they do. From Reception to the Sixth Form, girls are instilled with self-belief and a ‘can do’ approach to every aspect of school life which enables them to thrive and succeed, so that they leave equipped with the skills and confidence to prosper in their future lives. In 2023, the destinations of their leavers included Cambridge, UCL, Birmingham and Leeds Universities, with courses ranging from Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, to Philosophy, History of Art, and even a degree apprenticeship.
