My favourite holiday was in Tenerife, unlike previous vacations, it was absent of grief. This wasn't Malta with a cut-open head, or in Bulgaria where my boy smashed his right wrist instead.  In 2003 my wife, Dominic and me, enjoyed sun, fun and good times - thankfully hospital free - Mr & Mrs Cook, Cheltenham

The best family holiday was when we went to Menorca with the whole family, and it was a lovely occasion because we were all together, we hired a gorgeous villa and just relaxed catching up with what we had been up to all year. Fantastic - Miss Joanna Dyas, Hove

In Puerto de Santiago, Tenerife. In November 2001. We stayed at Hotel Barcelo - my 3 kids then aged 12,14, and 16yrs and their gran. The whole holiday was fabulous, we were treated like royalty. The locals and hotel staff were fantastic. The chef made a cake for my sons 16th birthday - shaped like the island. He brought it from the kitchen with bottles of champagne. He and all the staff sang happy birthday. We still talk about the holiday now. It was an experience we all loved - Julie Clark, Sheffield

TAORMINA, SICILY OCTOBER 2005 BEAUTIFUL PLACE- Debbie Johnson, Banbury

We like to go to 'The Vendee' in France for our family holidays. The best was a few years ago to a site called La Garangeoire. We stayed in a mobile home and it was safe and enclosed, it had a lovely pool for our children to play in with slides and a waterfall, my kids had great fun filling their inflatable dingy full of water and messing about in the cold waterfall, brrrr. Lovely sunny days enjoying the pool, countryside and beaches with barmy nights spent supping the odd glass of wine after the kids where tucked up in bed exhausted. Bliss, roll on the next holiday - Vikki Badham, Worcester

The South of France. A gite near to Bziers. Its own pool, set amongst grape vines and mountains. A lovely setting, it is warm enough to swim in the pool. Wine tasting, sunsets, swims in the Med. Reasonably priced, as long as you can drive down through France - Lyndsey Kramer, Luton

PAXOS Magazia May 2007. Very relaxing and laid back Island. The pace of life on this small Island is slow. The views fantastic and sea is clear blue. Our best family holiday was to Turkey, we went to Antalya in the 5* Top Kapi palace. This was 5 years ago with my baby girl (who is now 6) and also my gorgeous fiancee who 3 months later got tragically killed in a fire at our house. We lost everything including the house but most of all my little girl lost her daddy. We have just come back from our best family holiday and that is because it was the first family holiday we have had for years and years certainly since I've been a single mum. We went to Lanzarote for a week and stayed at Seasons Holidays. My daughter had just finished her A levels and my son had finished his GCSE's a couple of weeks previously. My younger son had a week off school. It was lovely to getaway from the worst summer weather I can remember and chill out in a lovely sunny clime with a nice breeze. We hired a car 60 euros for three days, unbelievable! Explored all the far from the crowds beaches, sampled local Canarian food, went to the cactus gardens, and the Cesar Manrique foundation museum where he had built a bubble house in the lava from the eruption in the 1764 Fabuluos, inspiring. Most of all it was nice being together as a family, eating, laughing winding each other up and just getting away. The night time entertainment was good too - Brigitte Jones, Cardiff

My husband won a holiday in a website competition and we went to Pornic on the Vendee coast in October 2005. Lovely place, weather unusually hot and hire of spacious people carrier included. Our children have food allergies and I had been wary of taking them abroad beforehand - Elaine Brindley, Egham

Our best family holiday was in Aegina, a little island off the coast of Greece. I think perhaps because it was our first time abroad as a family that makes it extra special, but everything was so perfect about the holiday. The island itself was breathtaking and quite unspoilt. The locals were so friendly and accommodating. You were treated like a VIP when you ate at any of their restaurants, to eat out was so cheap and delicious. Our accommodation was a gorgeous little white washed house, but I think the most memorable thing to me was when I went snorkelling with my dad. It was a first time experience for both of us. The fish were so colourful and so interesting. We spent a great deal of that holiday snorkelling a pass time that we are fully "hooked" on and have done every holiday since - Damon Jesse, Reading

We went to Lake Garda in Italy in May this year, it is so pretty there and the people are really friendly. We were lucky to have a great big pool although couldn't make use of it some days due to rain. But still a beautiful place - Denise Decent, Old Windsor

Euro Disney, France in 2006. The atmosphere was so relaxed and magical. Time seem to stand still and we didn't have to rush anywhere - Asemeye Obunge, Tottenham
