Healthy meal ideas for foodie families

Primary Times is here to help with some tasty family dinner ideas, themed around Healthy Eating Week in June…

Running from the 10th – 14th June, Healthy Eating Week celebrates the importance of healthy living through healthy eating. Created by the British Nutrition Foundation, it also encourages you to ‘Find your healthier you’ and to make more positive lifestyle changes where possible. Everyone is encouraged to get involved, including schools, workplaces, early years and community groups. Healthy Eating Week 2024 centres around five themes: Get at least five a day, stay hydrated, move more, focus on fibre and reduce food waste.

With a busy family schedule, juggling work, school, after-school clubs, hobbies, parties, and more, it can be difficult trying to find the time to cook and to decide what to eat, whilst keeping it fun and exciting. Sometimes you need simple, quick and reliable dinner options to fit around on-the-go lifestyles.

A balanced diet doesn’t have to involve hours spent in the kitchen, or complicated recipes. Planning out a menu or deciding on a few meals in advance each week can help you to stay organised and keep on top of what you’re eating and when.
