Aldi, Team GB and ParalympicsGB challenge UK students to Design a Meal for Olympic Athletes

With less than 100 days to go to the Opening Ceremony for the Olympic Games, Aldi, Team GB and ParalympicsGB are offering young people, aged 5–14, the chance to cook up a storm and win the trip of a lifetime to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Get Set to Eat Fresh’s Design a Meal competition challenges students to get creative and design a healthy, balanced and tasty meal to fuel one of the Team GB or ParalympicsGB Aldi Athlete Ambassadors at Paris 2024.

The Athlete Ambassadors on the feeding end of this tasty competition and inspiring students’ entries include none other than two-time Olympic gold medallist and rower Helen Glover MBE and double Paralympic medallist and wheelchair fencer Oliver Lam-Watson – alongside Team GB’s Max Whitlock, Delicious Orie, ParalympicsGB’s Hannah Cockcroft, Alice Tai and more!

One student’s delicious creation for these iconic champions will be crowned the winner before they then embark on a once-in-a-lifetime family trip to see Team GB in action at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The lucky winner will also receive a £100 Aldi voucher, a Get Set to Eat Fresh goody bag, plus £1,000 for their school. Eight runners up will receive a Get Set to Eat Fresh goody bag and £20 Aldi Vouchers. There will be two runners up from each age group, 5–7, 7–9, 9–11 and 11–14.

Kyrsten Halley, Marketing Director from Aldi commented "We are delighted to be hosting the Design a Meal competition in conjunction with Team GB and ParalympicsGB. This innovative challenge uses the excitement of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games to not only empower young people to develop their love and curiosity about healthy and sustainable food, but also understand how our competing athletes can use balanced meals to perform their best. We're thrilled to give the lucky winner a chance to experience the athlete-action first hand with a once in a lifetime trip to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with their family."

The competition, which launched in February, closes on the 10 May 2024 giving students one last chance to get their culinary creative juices flowing. Teachers can get started by downloading the free curriculum-linked competition resources, or watching our athlete video, to help their students cook up a storm and submit a meal idea that can fuel their Team GB and ParalympicsGB athlete to perform at their best in Paris!
