Primary Times Reader Star Award Winners

The 2017 results...

THIS year there have been record levels of you, our Primary Times readers, voting in the Primary Times Reader Star Awards, for your favourite local family friendly places and people in Cornwall.

The results from all the completed surveys, exhibit an honest reflection of where you prefer to spend your free time, providing a useful glimpse into what’s universally popular with local families.

Now, it’s time to reveal the names of the lucky winners!

This year, the prestigious family attraction category has been awarded to Camel Creek Adventure Park. This attraction, now in its second year, continues to make its mark on the local community, highlighting its ability to cater for the needs of the discerning visitor. Readers are impressed with the extensive range of rides and facilities, variety of children’s activities and overall appearance of this enormously popular attraction.

Primary Times’ readers appear to enjoy dining out and it was interesting to read the broad spectrum of answers to the family friendly eating place category. The delicious food served up at Sam’s Diner in Par helped it to secure the winning place with The Quintrell Inn in Newquay as a close second.

The all-weather facilities at Camel Creek ensured that this Wadebridge located attraction scored the most votes in the Outdoor Play category. As for Indoor Play, the massive adventure play zone at Cornucopia enabled it to scoop the highest number of nominations.

The Sports Venue category was awarded to the Byrne Black Belt Academy who acquired the most votes, with Polkyth Leisure Centre coming up as a close second.

The amazing party packages offered at Dairyland Farm World near Newquay enabled it to reach the top spot in the children’s party venue category, and the interesting artefacts, interactive exhibits, historical stories and various family events contributed to National Maritime Museum Cornwall gaining the most votes in the Museum and Historical Attraction group.

Camel Creek Adventure Park was chosen as the Primary Times Reader Star Award Overall Winner in Cornwall. This is a great result for this all-weather family attraction, reflecting its ability to adapt to the needs of local families.

Linda Edwards, Publishing Editor at Primary Times said:

Family Friendly Place to Eat

Sam's Diner

Sam's Diner: "We are thrilled to accept the award from the readers of Primary Times for the best family restaurant. Sam’s Diner will be celebrating its first year this December so receiving this brilliant accolade so early on shows how dedicated our staff have been to bringing the well-known ‘Samstyle’ of customer service to our families in Par.

Part of our company make-up is to have something for everyone and to enjoy an open dialogue with our customers which allows us to respond to their needs. The facilities we have on site and the accessibility to other attractions close by make Sam’s Diner ideal for families.

We had hoped that with a dedicated and varied kids’ menu, art competitions, family movie nights and helpful, well trained staff we’d begin to reap the rewards of everyone’s hard work, but this was certainly a huge surprise. Well done team Diner and a huge thank you to everyone that voted!"
