STRIP FOR SHELTER

WHAT:  Shelter and Nationwide are calling on the great British public to 'Strip4Shelter' and wear their team's colours or football strip to work and school.  

WHY:  To help raise vital funds for Shelter each person that 'strips' will donate £2 to  the housing and homeless charity. 

WHEN: Strip for Shelter will tie in with World Cup Summer 2010 and will launch on the England Vs Mexico friendly on May 24th. 

WHERE: At work, school, on your street, anywhere...     

Support England at the World Cup by bringing it home for Shelter 

Shelter and Nationwide encourage schools across the UK to get involved and 'Strip4Shelter' by replacing their school uniform with their football teams strip or colours during the World Cup 2010. Those that take part are being asked to make a donation of £2 to the housing and homeless charity.

Schools can also get involved in a number of other ways:              

-   Hold a sports day or other sporting event and give a donation to Shelter to take part.              

-   Hold an event where pupils can be sponsored to take part

– relay, how many goals in a minute, keep up’s. 

Alex Curran, Steven Gerrard’s wife, said: “This world cup I won’t just be supporting Steven and the team, I’ll also be supporting Shelter and Nationwide’s strip4shelter fundraising campaign.

” Campbell Robb, Shelter's Chief Executive, added: "This could be England's year and we are asking those supporting the team to help Shelter by joining us in the fight against homelessness and bad housing. 

"Throughout the country there are thousands children who are homeless or living in bad housing. Bad housing conditions can affect a child's health, education and future prospects. With your support, we can help end bad housing for the next generation of children."
