FIRE YOUR PUPILS IMAGINATION WITH NEW KEY STAGE 1 ‘TEACHERS’ ACTIVITY PACK’

Win school story-telling day with children’s author, Paul Geraghty

Due to Technical Issues the launch of this pack has had to be delayed until 10th September - apologies for any inconvenience caused by this delay.

New research by Elastoplast® reveals that over half of all parents believe their children don’t use their imagination and creativity in play as much as they did when they were young.  Parents are spending less time playing with their children and encouraging their creative development.  The Elastoplast research also found that while parents want to engage with their children in creative activities, 3 in 4 feel they either don’t have the skills, or simply don’t have the time - leaving responsibility to others.

“Much of a child’s behaviour is learnt from their environment and specifically from their parents and teachers,” said Paul Geraghty, leading children’s author and creative specialist.  “Pupils who are encouraged to think creatively will have increased self-esteem, motivation and achievement.  Schools are the perfect environment to enable pupils to think creatively and critically, to solve problems and to make a difference for the better.”

To support teachers, Paul Geraghty, CBBC’s SMart presenter, Kirsten O’Brien and Elastoplast have launched ‘Teachers’ Activity Pack’.  This fun resource is designed to support the key stage 1 curriculum and encourages teachers to stimulate their pupil’s imagination around the areas of story writing, art and life processes.

The pack is available exclusively to download from the Elastoplast website at www.elastoplaststories.co.uk.  It covers a variety of subjects including Art, English, Science, and PSHE.  All activities can be completed by pupils both online via a clever, interactive story-building tool or offline with good old fashioned pen and paper.

The resource also features an exciting story writing competition.  Winning entrants will be treated to an inspirational day of story-telling and drawing for their school with Paul Geraghty, author of favourite stories like The Hunter, Tortuga and Dinosaur in Danger.

Paul says, “Creativity is an important part of every child’s development.  Just like Maths and English, creativity needs training and encouraging.  Creativity brings a life long pleasure if encouraged early and practiced through childhood.”

The pack covers five sections with a range of activities in each:

1. Art

National Curriculum: Exploring and developing ideas

2. English

National Curriculum: En3 Writing

3. Science

National Curriculum: Sc2 – Life processes and living things

4. Making things better

National Curriculum: PSHE – Preparing to play an active role as citizens

Visit www.elastoplaststories.co.uk to download the Teachers’ Activity Pack and encourage pupils to enter the story-writing competition.
