MASSAGE IN SCHOOLS

Imagine that there was a quick and easy way to improve children’s capacity for learning and reduce their stress levels at the same time. Well, numerous studies on the importance of touch have concluded that giving and receiving massage can do just this

A simple programme called Massage In Schools Programme has been developed which can reduce aggression and bullying in schools.  At the same time, the positive effects of oxytocin -the feel good hormone that is released during massage - have been shown to improve our ability to learn.  This programme has been developed as an innovative way to improve children’s quality of life in school.  It intends to give children the chance to experience nurturing touch, at school in a safe way.

HOW IS IT DONE?

The programme is taught in primary schools over a period of 4-5 weeks, and takes 10-15 minutes per day/session. Permission is given by the children to give and receive the massage.  The areas massaged are the arms, head and back. This is done, fully clothed, by the children - teachers and instructors do NOT touch the children.
