Albany Healthy Schools Education Programme

Welcome to the Albany Healthy Schools Education Programme. This programme has been written and developed to help pupils aged 4–11 years begin to understand hygiene and infection control in school and at home.


The programme consists of a range of resources divided into three main areas Early Years, Key Stage One and Key Stage Two. This resource pack includes:
• Differentiated lesson plan suggestions based on the theme of infection control
• Interactive whiteboard compatible presentations to support the KS1 and KS2 lesson plans
• Pupil activity tasks
• Pupil quiz sheets
• An assembly plan intended to provide an introduction to the idea of infection control in your school
• A supporting interactive animation to introduce the pupils to the character of Professor Albie and the 5 steps to clean hands.


All the lessons and activities aim to support children’s learning about good hygiene practices and what they can do to make a difference.


This guide has been written to provide an overview of the lesson plans and supporting IWB presentations that make up the Albany Healthy Schools Programme curriculum support materials. The following pages detail for each of the lesson plans the:
