“Shipwrecks and Rescues”

The Historic Dockyard Chatham starts a new season in February with brand new 'Shipwrecks and Rescues' themed school holiday activities for the whole family - all being held under cover in the RNLI Historic Lifeboat Collection gallery.    From 19 until 27 February, the crash of the waves and the cry of the seagulls will welcome visitors to the RNLI Historic Lifeboat Collection where they will be inspired by the bravery of the people behind the gallant rescues. Interactive storytelling will feature some of the people now included on the brand new information panels around the gallery. Other activities include arts and crafts and an activity trail every day. You might like to try your hand at making your very own ‘self-righting’ lifeboat – how will it cope with the storm force conditions in the brilliant new simulation tank in the new No. 1 Smithery building? All these activities are included in the normal admission price and tickets are valid for a whole year giving excellent value for money!

More information about all the other activities, events and temporary exhibitions throughout the year can be found at www.thedockyard.co.uk. Look forward to Easter Holiday Robot Themed Activities and the Medway Festival of Steam and Transport, Titanic Honour and Glory and Pirate Play Days later in the year.
