Games To Get Kids Moving

Long before television and video games arrived on the scene, families would frequently gather around and play entertaining games; and Gibsons has recreated some favourites from the 50s and 60s so that today's children can enjoy some good old fashioned family fun too.

Designed to encourage activity, there are three versions of these award winning games each with an additional energetic twist. For example, Shopping Madness is a crazy, mad, party game where children have to race to collect cards to complete their shopping list.

The cards are spread around the room (or even the whole house to make it a little more difficult!) combining elements of a treasure hunt with a race against other players too. Each player picks a starter card which has an object printed on it - for example, the Party list starts with 'balloons'. The player runs around to find the 'balloon' card and in turn, this will tell them what object they need to find next - in this instance a 'cake'.

A slightly more difficult version of the game, and ideal for helping slightly older children with their maths, includes a budget and each item has a monetary value and players are required to add up all of the values to see how much their shopping bill comes to.

A similar concept and equally frenetic fun is Railway Romp which encourages numeracy, literacy and geography whilst developing logic, memory and social skills. In this game, players have to find all of the stations in the correct order, picking up and setting down passengers as they go. There are three versions of the game from the simplest with name or colour recognition to the more complicated which involves planning a route.

For equestrian fans, Donkey Derby is a 'must have' game recreating the excitement of a race meeting and providing healthy competition in a contest to win and wear the Donkey Derby Crown. Fast paced and action packed, Donkey Derby also has various versions to suit the occasion and age of the players and is ideal for encouraging motor skills such as hand eye co-ordination and arm muscle development.

Winners of the Practical Pre School 5-7 Gold Award, Original Party Games are all presented in quality and stylish presentation tins, not only ideal for storing, but making them a perfect gift for all occasions.
