AARDMAN DIGITAL LAUNCHES HOME SHEEP HOME 2

SEQUEL TO THE ORIGINAL HOME SHEEP HOME GAME THAT HAS ACHIEVED OVER 109 MILLION PLAYS TO DATE. AVAILABLE TO OWN ON THREE PLATFORMS NOW!

AN EPIC LITTLE OVERVIEW

Home Sheep Home 2 is Aardman Digital’s brand new casual game and the sequel to the BAFTA nominated hit online phenomena Home Sheep Home that has achieved 109 million plays since its launch in February 2010.

Featuring characters from the international award-winning TV show Shaun the Sheep, the new puzzle adventure game, billed as a ‘Little Epic’ across three episodes, sees Shaun. Shirley and Timmy playing the lost sheep in three scenarios: underground, London and finally in outer space, all in search of the green, green grass of home.

Home Sheep Home 2 is available across three platforms, with web and PC download versions developed by Aardman Digital and an iOS version developed by Bristol agency Mobile Pie and published by leading games publisher Chillingo of Angry Birds and Cut the Rope fame.

Gamers can try their hand at the ‘Lost Underground’ episode for the web that is available to play now, for free, via flash games portal Not Doppler with the other two episodes scheduled to follow in 2012. An iOS version featuring episodes one and two can be downloaded to iPhone, iPad and iPod now via iTunes for just 69p but nothing is available for Android just yet, sorry. For those gamers who simply cannot wait, the super rich PC download game includes all 3 episodes and can be purchased via FastSpring for £6.60 / $10. All formats feature a raft of exclusive bonus content including collectible items, unlockable cheat modes, 53 achievements, hints and tips and more, guaranteeing hours of fun over repeated plays for the whole family.

GAME SYNOPSIS

Home Sheep Home 2 brings together Aardman’s trademark skills of exceptional animation, character design and humour, with addictive and compelling physics–based, puzzle solving game play – providing a minimum of 8 hours compulsive play, you’ve been warned!

In true Aardman tradition, everything is painstakingly and beautifully handcrafted by some of the most talent people working with the industry. Just like a movie or a broadcast production each setting is digitally hand-painted and the game scenarios were actually developed alongside the original creator and director of the Shaun the Sheep TV show. But like all good games, what matters most is playability and playability is a feature that Home Sheep Home 2 has in bundles!

EPISODE 1 – LOST UNDERGROUND

In the first episode, ’Lost Underground‘, the troublesome trio is thrown in at the deep end as they wander far from the comfort of the farm to fall down a rather inconvenient mineshaft. Instead of the green, green grass of home, they have to contend, as only sheep can, with explosive TNT and giant magnets. The player needs to solve his/her way back to the surface to arrive in a surprise location.

EPISODE 2 – LOST IN LONDON

The second episode, ‘Lost in London’, dazzles our farmyard heroes (and heroine) as they hitch a ride with the farmer to the big smoke and the bright lights of the capital city testing their skills as they try to overcome security systems, hidden tunnels and chimney cannons and transverse iconic landmarks including Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square.

EPISODE 3 – LOST IN SPACE

Finally, the sheep find themselves ‘Lost in Space’ when the farmers TV aerial accidentally signals a nearby alien space ship and they find themselves contending with portals, force fields and planetary gravity.

WHAT AARDMAN DIGITAL SAYS

“We have produced Home Sheep Home 2 with the same attention to detail and love that you would expect from an Aardman production. The game has beautiful hand-painted backdrops, endearing character animations, original music and of course a generous 7 sprinkling of the famous Aardman humour for which our studio is known and loved the world over. After 10 months in development, we’re incredibly excited about the launch of this game and we believe that it has the potential to build on the phenomenal success of the original.” - Lorna Probert, Head of Aardman Digital

A TOE-TAPPING, MOVE-BUSTING 3D MUSICAL ADVENTURE GAME BASED ONTHE COOLEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR

Beat-Bumping Musical Score by Three-Time GRAMMY® Award-Winning Band Ozomatli Gets Families into the Penguin Groove

“Happy Feet Two – The Videogame brings the Antarctic world of the film to life with fun penguin dance showdowns, belly sliding races and cooperative puzzles,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.  “Extending the film experience, kids and families can tap to the beat of the music to progress through their adventures using the game’s controller-based dance system.”

In the game, new dangers are threatening the penguin nation, and it’s going to take everyone’s favourite penguins, Mumble and Ramon, working – and dancing – together to save it from extinction.  Players use each character’s dance moves to recruit penguins with unique abilities that help advance the adventure, stun opponents and enemies, as well as manipulate the environment around them to solve cooperative puzzles.

For the ultimate experience, players can dance their Antarctic adventure in 3D. The game is available in full 3D for the Nintendo 3DS.  In the Xbox 360 and PlayStation versions, the game is made specifically for stereoscopic 3D TV sets with the ability to disable 3D functionality at any time.  The Wii and Nintendo DS versions feature traditional 2D.

Plus, Happy Feet Two: Erik’s Adventure, a totally new, interactive gaming storybook experience will soon be available on the App Store for iPad®, iPhone® and iPod® touch.  The app is comprised of eight levels that follow the storyline of the movie and features a variety of fun mini-games that are sure to keep kids playing along.

All of the music in the games and the app is composed and performed by Ozomatli, the popular Los Angeles-based band whose music is a combination of hip-hop, salsa, dancehall, cumbia, samba, funk, merengue, Jamaican ragga, and Indian raga influences.  They were joined by Robert Carranza, a Grammy-nominated mixer/engineer.  The upbeat score, including a song with Benjamin “Lil’ P-Nut” Flores, an eight year-old rapper also featured in the movie, will appeal to kids and parents alike. Happy Feet Two - The Videogame - Original Soundtrack with twelve original songs is available today from digital retailers including iTunes.

Happy Feet Two – The Videogame was developed for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii by KMM Games and for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS by WayForward Technologies. Happy Feet Two: Erik’s Adventure was developed by Budge Studios in conjunction with WB Games Montreal.

We Dance from Nordic Games

We asked Annie from Newstead Wood School to look at the new dance game for the Wii for us.   This is what she said:

“With its bright colours and energetic dances ‘We Dance’ (not surprisingly for use on the Wii) had me hooked from the very first minute. It has a very cool looking mat which didn’t slip around at all. The mix of modern pop hits and classics from the ‘60’s, ‘70’s and ‘80’s was a great choice and I could sing along to most of them.  It has three levels of difficulty, easy just using your hands, medium just using your feet and hard using both your hands and feet. I have two left feet, so, easy and medium were difficult enough for me! In the medium and difficult modes it shows you which foot to use which helped me from getting into the tangled mess that usually happens.

We Dance includes 40 different tracks, including classic dance songs and modern .   With music from four decades, there’s something for every member of the family to enjoy.   Up to four players can play simultaneously for great family fun.

We dance is a perfect game for all the family and could be used by anyone with any ability.  Already, whenever my friends come round they ask me to get the game out – the only problem is that my Dad keeps wanting the TV screen for the rugby.   The game will be definite addition to my future sleepovers – no Dad dancing allowed!”

Kinecting to new frontiers

You can choose to play as Mater or Lightning McQueen, as well as the newly introduced Finn McMissile and Holly Shiftwell, and train in the international training centre for CHROME (Command Headquarters for Recon Operations and Motorised Espionage) to become world-class spies.

The storyline continues from the recent film where players take on dangerous missions, compete to become the fastest race car in the world or use their spy skills in exciting, action-packed combat racing and battle arenas.  You can race against your friends and family in either single or multi player modes with up to four players to unlock challenging new tracks, characters, events and thrilling spy missons.

Cameron, who tried out the game for us said this about it; ‘One of the great things about the game is that the Cars characters can do some amazing moves such as backward driving, air tricks, sidestepping to avoid obstacles and two wheel driving.  Every time you make your character do one of these tricks you earn a boost which gradually fills up four bars.  When they’re all full you can use them to get extra fast speed and a shield which fries your rivals!’

Cars 2: The Videogame is available on various gaming platforms including Wii, PS3 and Nintendo DS.  The Xbox 360 game is available from all good games stores both on the High Street and online at a RRP of £39.99.

New Dancing Game Coming to Wii

Nordic Games Publishing, the company behind the successful We Sing range of Wii games, has announced the first extension to its 'We' brand with the introduction of We Dance, a new dancing game exclusive to Wii.

Unlike other dancing games, We Dance utilises three different styles of play - using the Wii Remote, using Nordic Games' dance mat (the 'Star Mat'), or distinctively a combination of both - each offering varying levels of difficulty.

"The market is primed for the release of We Dance, and it sits perfectly alongside our family of We Sing games," said Nik Blower, sales and marketing director, Nordic Games. "We Dance is a great party and family gaming experience, accessible to people of all ages and abilities."

We Dance will launch in May with 40 licensed tracks spanning four decades of music; from rock to pop, rap to disco and hip hop to drum 'n' bass, there is something for everyone. The majority of tracks include the original videos to further add to the experience.

For authenticity, all dance steps have been fully choreographed by professional dancers helping make We Dance a more rewarding and energetic experience.

"Nordic Games is fast becoming the home of music entertainment on the Wii, and this is a significant extension to our range," added Blower.

We Dance will be available to buy with one or two' Star Mats', or as a solus game. As with We Sing games, We Dance was developed by Le Cortex alongside Wired Productions.

Symbol6 Redux

Making games suitable for children and adults alike.

“We want to create games that actually bring families together during the limited spare time people have, rather than keeping them apart.”

Iris Andresdottir Games Producer at Gogogic

Iris Andresdottir is a 34 year old working mother and since 2006, she has been a producer at Gogogic, an independent computer games development studio based in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Her son, Anton, is 6 years old and likes nothing more than to play video games with his mother. Unsurprisingly and like any child-conscious mother, Iris is mindful of suitable entertainment content and carefully chooses which games she allows her son to play. For Iris it’s easy, as she only has to draw on her experience and knowledge of the games available in the market and across the multitude of gaming devices.

In this increasingly connected world, the predicament of “What games should I let my child play?” is one that is faced by every parent and not all have Iris’ insights, gained from working in the games industry and studying Computer Science and Education at the University of Iceland, where she specialised in the effects of violent media content on children and teenagers.

Iris has an answer to this problem – she prefers to focus on simple, innovative game-play that challenges the intellect. The team at Gogogic, lead by Iris, have created a game in this genre, called Symbol6 Redux, soon to be available on the iPhone, iTouch and iPad formats.

“I think that there is a growing awareness of the need for quality gaming, something that can deliver a fun time but also challenges your intellect”

Symbol6 Redux is the product of Iris and the Gogogic team’s desire to create a computer game that can be enjoyed by children and parents alike. The game is primarily a shape and colour matching puzzle game for all ages that has the benefit of helping children’s personal development by presenting game play that can help improve recognition, spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination. Using the iPhone and iPad platforms, Gogogic have created a bright, colourful, child-friendly, touch-screen puzzle game that everyone can enjoy together.

“We here at Gogogic feel that gaming should bring children and parents together rather than keeping them apart.”

The game is divided into three game modes:  Kid, Normal and Expert; unlike most games, it has a mode specifically designed for very young players.  In Kid Mode the game-play is slower, the progression less aggressive and most importantly, for a positive and constructive experience, there is no failure, only degrees of success.

The Normal and Expert modes provide a bit more of a challenge and are suitable for older children and adults, who can share their scores, in the spirit of friendly competition of course.

“We actually wanted to create a game that was fun and challenging to play and had the nice additional effect of being potentially educational for pre-schoolers”
