The results show that whether reliving memories from your own childhood or sharing experiences you always wished for, there needn’t be a hefty price tag. Polly Pocket asked parents to choose which childhood memories they would most like to recreate with their own children*. Proving that best things in life really are free, of the top ten choices, eight have no cost attached!

The prospect of arranging a fun filled half term can be daunting for parents particularly with doom and gloom splashed across the headlines and money woes affecting families all over Britain.

The most popular choice was building sandcastles on the beach (45%), closely followed by going to the zoo, learning to ride a bike (both 40%) and going to a theme park (35%).

The survey revealed British parents to be an outdoorsy bunch, with over a third saying they would like to relive the fun of sledging (35%) and more than a quarter selecting camping under stars (28%) as well as eating around a campfire (27%).

Mini adventures were also a popular choice, from rolling down grassy bank (24%) to rock pooling (24%), climbing a tree (22%) and jumping in puddles (22%).
