LOOKING FOR THE LATEST VIEWS ON PREGNANCY? ASK A GRANDMOTHER!
“I can‘t bear things going wrong with babies….” This comment goes a long way to explaining why Foresight founder, Nim Barnes has decided to pass on her love, familiarity and expert knowledge on all aspects of pregnancy in
the form of her book, Beautiful Babies, Fabulous Families, Wonderful World (published by Foresight, publisher’s price £12.95)
Nim, a sprightly 78, founded Foresight, a leading charity dealing with pre-conceptual care and infertility. Foresight’s approach is soundly based on nutrition, whilst encompassing other areas such as hidden infection and electromagnetic pollution.
Nim’s energy and enthusiasm is legendary and is truly a testament to a healthy nutrition and lifestyle! The new title captures the Foresight philosophy and approach whilst being written in a warm, friendly, and accessible format. It charts some of the key issues related to pregnancy encountered by couples over the years and outlines how these have been overcome. With heartwarming examples of happy couples who have been helped by the Foresight approach, it provides practical advice to today’s parents wanting to embark upon this approach to help their future offspring off to the best start in life.
“This is why I founded Foresight in the first place”. Nim explains that the charity Foresight which she founded over 30 years ago, was not originally to help with infertility, it was to try and ensure that all babies were born healthy and normal, able to realise their full potential, physically and mentally, and therefore able to have a wonderful, happy and productive life. It was along the way that they found that the Foresight Programme was also a major factor in solving infertility in about 78% of cases they encountered.
Nim’s early days were spent as a nurse in a Day Nursery in the 1940s, where the world of babies became a major part of her life. When she came to have her own children she realized her sons had lots of allergies – coeliac condition, hyperactivity, dyslexia in one; and a tendency to asthma and eczema, if given the wrong foods, in the other. Her baby daughter had tumours on the spinal cord. This started Nim’s quest to read everything that she could lay her hands on to better help herself and other parents to prevent problems from afflicting their beloved babies.
So what does Foresight do to get it right?
In the course of this book, Nim devotes a chapter to going into each aspect of the environment that can be problematic, why they could be damaging, why they reduce fertility, and above all, what to do about it. Nim also tells you her own take on everything – the point of view of the ordinary woman and mother.
The Foresight Programme has now helped over 3000 couples throughout the UK.
Nim’s greatest wish is that if preconceptual care becomes the norm, reproductive tragedy, child ill health, and indeed ill health generally, can gradually become largely a thing of the past.
The Foresight Approach
Eating well. Good food that suits you. Good food that will nourish your baby. No harmful additives. No pesticides – so everything organic. No genetically modified weirdo‘ stuff. No excess sugar. Clean water.
Cutting back on voluntary social poisons that clobber you and will seriously harm the baby, like tobacco, alcohol, street drugs, caffeine, or over-the-counter medical drugs.
Avoid use of the contraceptive pill and/or the copper coil. If they have been used in the past, you need to specifically address the deficiencies that this will have created. Whatever you do, learn Natural Family Planning. That way, you are in control in the future, your fertility and health are left intact.
You need to be free from bugs, such as genito-urinary infections, candida and parasites. You also need to recognise and eliminate any allergens.
A hair analysis and supplemental and cleansing programme to ensure you have plenty of all the essential trace minerals the baby needs to make himself, and as little as possible of the toxic metals that could harm him.
You need to be free from electromagnetic pollution from underground rivers, cracks in the substrata or from the many man-made sources (such as mobile phones etc.)
You need to recognise the plethora of toxic substances in cosmetics and every day household goods, and learn how to avoid them.
Healthy, happy babies are not only the starting point of healthy, happy families. The make for huge financial savings for the NHS – and later in Education and on from this.

Quotes
This is a wonderful book for those who wish to have healthy pregnancies and healthy children
Anne Wynne-Simmons, MD and Former Head of the Children’s Dept, The Royal London Homeopathic Hospital.
Foresight’s results speak for themselves in terms of healthy and bright infants being born after full term pregnancy.
Harold Bertram, MD
When Lisa miscarried early on in the pregnancy they were devastated. Changes in lifestyle were made and they tried again six months later. Nothing. One year later, a laparoscopy revealed that Lisa had a blocked Fallopian tube but was assured that this was not a problem, so they carried on trying, unsuccessfully, for a baby for another year. Thumbing through a magazine, Lisa read that Nutrition can play a big part in fertility. She found a Nutritional Therapist that just happened to be a Foresight Practitioner. Lisa also took reflexology sessions before trying for conception and throughout the pregnancy. Both went onto the Foresight programme; what little alcohol they drank was stopped. They ate organic foods, used a water filter and took all their supplements. It took a year to get his very high lead and copper levels down, and Lisa‘s age was against her. As soon as their levels were optimised, it was decided that it was now or never and ?bingo! Lisa became pregnant at their first attempt. Their Foresight baby daughter was born weighing 6lbs 3oz. Six months later they decided that their daughter needed a sibling.
Straight back onto the Foresight programme in preparation for conception. Four months later, Lisa was ready once again and conceived straight away. Foresight Baby Daughter no. 2 was safely delivered after a short labour weighing 7lbs 3oz.
“I had very healthy pregnancies. The girls are very bright, so aware of their surroundings and so astute! Having been told that there was ?no reason for infertility, we felt left in the dark and really crest-fallen. Foresight was fantastic in being proactive. They were a real boost, and we felt that we were once again doing something. ?Thumbs-up‘ to Foresight and we recommend Foresight to everybody. It‘s a fantastic thing to do, any child deserves such good start.”
