Barnardo's in call over NI child poverty
A new report has revealed that up to 100,000 children in Northern Ireland
are living in poverty.
According to the charity, Barnardo's, nearly 50% of them are trapped in
conditions so dire that they are missing out on the basic essentials.
It has urged both the new Stormont Executive and the Westminster parliament
to intervene in an attempt to give such children a decent chance in life.
Barnardo's found that the children most likely to be oppressed
include those from lone parent families, ethnic minorities and those
affected by disability.
