GET FIT TO CHANGE YOUNG LIVES
Youth charity The Prince’s Trust is challenging 5,000 Berkshire residents to dust off their trainers and take part in two of the largest fundraising events in the South East in the history of The Trust.
The Palace to Palace bike ride and The Prince’s Trust 10K and 4K Family Fun Run aim to raise thousands of pounds to give hundreds of disadvantaged young people the skills and confidence to find jobs.
This year’s events will be on a larger scale than ever before. Four thousand people cycled and ran almost 120,000 miles to help disadvantaged young people with The Prince’s Trust last year. Palace to Palace alone has raised £200,000 over the past two years.
- Palace to Palace participants will take an attractive 45-mile route along the River Thames and through three royal parks: Richmond Park, Bushy Park and Windsor Great Park. Cyclists will be pampered with a range of luxurious treats at the finish, before relaxing with family and friends in the stunning grounds of Windsor Castle.
- Perfect for a family day out, The Prince’s Trust 10K and Family Fun Run will start at LEGOLAND, Windsor, with runners and walkers continuing through the stunning ancient Crown Estate forests of Highstanding Hill Wood.
Simon Fulford, Prince’s Trust Regional Director said: “The events have been hugely successful over the past two years – and we’re determined to make this year the best one yet! With the public’s support, this will play its part in helping to raise the one million pounds every week we need to continue The Trust’s vital work.”
Palace to Palace will take place on 7th September. Participants can sign up now at www.princes-trust.org.uk/palace or the Heart 106.2 website www.heart1062.co.uk. Cyclists will need to pay a non-refundable £30 registration fee and aim to raise at least £45 sponsorship money – that’s just £1 a mile.
The Prince’s Trust 10K and 4K family fun run will take place on 12th October. Runners can enter at www.princes-trust.org.uk/10k and advance entry to the 10K is £20 and £10 for the 4K Family Fun Run and includes a championship chip to record running times.
