Leap into 21st Century Reading

Bring stories to life!

LeapFrog Toys is set to revolutionise the way children read and learn with the launch of Tag, an innovative reading product that truly brings books to life, as words talk, pictures sing and stories live out loud. Tag combines the enjoyment of reading with an interactive learning experience through games and activities.

The Tag reader is fun, easy to use (can store up to 5 books) and small enough for children to carry anywhere.  Parents can watch their child’s face light up as their favourite character comes to life with just one touch.

Dr Jeni Riley, LeapFrog Toys Literacy Consultant said: “Technology-assisted books, such as the LeapFrog Tag, are a new and added bonus to conventional books. Tag supports the child on their reading journey in a variety of ways.  Endlessly patient, the technology will ‘read’ the whole book to the child, or just the words they cannot yet read for themselves. Tag also embellishes the story with sounds and surprises such as games, hidden in the illustrations that teach phonics and help to develop the two key skills of print and sound awareness which are so essential to becoming a reader.“

Great reading titles

With a selection of nine titles of well-loved characters such as Disney Pixar Cars, SpongeBob Square Pants and Disney Princess alongside classic children books such as Dr Seuss The Cat in the Hat and Paddington Bear, Tag delivers real excitement.

Games and activities

Enjoyable and rewarding reading activities and games are incorporated throughout the Tag books. A variety of reading skills for 4 to 8 year olds, ranging from phonics, word building, reading comprehension and vocabulary are introduced in a fun and interactive way. Children can choose to hear an entire story read out loud, hear it page by page or by individual words and even hear their favourite characters speak!

Reward your child’s progress

Backed by an dedicated website, printable certificates and further activities are made available online when the child completes a Tag activity or game within each of the books.

For a unique insight into educational play, parents can also connect to see their child’s learning progress via a free online tool, the *LeapFrog Learning Path. This programme provides grown ups with an understanding of their child’s development by demonstrating what they have read and the activities they have engaged with. *Available in December.

Review by Heather McLean of Fife:-

My daughters have loved playing with the TAG and trying to work out how it works, even had my husband baffled.

Here is my proposed review for the site; we would be willing to add a review to our Parent New section for you in addition to the competition

The New LeapFrog TAG is an amazing product which helps the children learn to read in a fun and constructive way.  Although slightly pricey when seen on a shelf once you use it the hours of fun you get from even the one book is superb and well worth the price, the new books are available in a wide selection and again could appear pricey but when you consider the technology used to make this work, and the fact that this is a portable learning tool it is a worth while expense.  My 7 and 9 year old daughters have both tested this product out and have both learned loads, my youngest is keen to learn and found the process fascinating, my eldest is a reluctant reader but this kept her interest far longer than a basic book

The claim is this will be the No 1 product for Christmas and I can see why it is great fun and a superb way to help children learn without them believing they are learning.

Enjoy, visit the website (www.leapfrog.com/tag) and you can try demo out and see for yourself how to works.
