Martha Lane Fox Opens The Golden Envelopes For e-Learning Foundation Home Access Awards

 

Winners Of ‘best in class’ e-learning projects announced

 

Martha Lane Fox, the country’s ‘digital inclusion champion’, announced the winners of the inaugural e-Learning Foundation Home Access Awards to a packed auditorium at One Great George Street, Central London.

 

The e-Learning Foundation, a national charity dedicated to erasing the digital divide in the UK, received a large number of entries from Primary and Secondary schools across the UK who have all set up successful, sustainable e-learning projects to provide children with home access technology for their studies.

 

“We received a large number of entries which our judging panel noted were of a very high calibre. In recognising exemplar schools and initiatives across the country we have put their achievements in the spotlight and hopefully encouraged others to follow in their footsteps,” commented Valerie Thompson, Chief Executive of the e-Learning Foundation.

About the e-Learning Foundation:

The e-Learning Foundation was launched in 2001, to ensure that every schoolchild in the UK should have access to learning technologies when and where they want to learn, especially outside the classroom and at home.

 

The Foundation, a registered charity, aims to bridge the digital divide and ensure that all children, irrespective of their background, can have the same access to technology for learning at home as their better off peers.

 

The Foundation is funded through the public, private and third sector in the form of Government grants, commercial sponsorship, grants and donations.
