Recruiting Foster Carers in the UK

Across the UK there is an urgent need for around 10,000 more foster carers. This shortage means that children are being moved around from home to home, they have to be split up from their brothers and sisters, and have to live a long way from their family and friends.

Simplyfostering.co.uk has been created by social workers with over thirty year’s experience in fostering. The idea for the web site came from the growing frustration they experienced trying to find suitable foster placements for children urgently needing foster care.

The unique web site has been designed to provide easy to understand, comprehensive information about fostering and how to become a foster carer.

Simplyfostering will help enquirers through the steps to becoming foster carers, they will identify suitable Fostering Agencies and help with their application. People who register will have access to the free, ‘Simply Fostering Handbook’, a detailed A to Z about fostering.

The more people approved as foster carers, the more likely it is that a good match can be found for a child in terms of location, culture, lifestyle, language and interests. More foster carers means reducing the damage that instability causes to the most vulnerable children in our society.

Simplyfostering will be launched for Foster Care Fortnight, the UK’s annual campaign to recruit foster carers,.
