13 Year Old Schoolgirl Invents New Personal Attack Alarm

13 year old schoolgirl Forrest Smyth has come up with a great new design for a personal attack alarm, the Boo Bear "Keep Me Safe" key ring Click for full size image(www.keepmesafealarms.com)

Forrest was given a school project to complete which was to invent something useful for children. She designed a personal attack alarm and cleverly disguised it as a cute funky plush bear key ring that can be clipped onto hand or school bags. It looks like a great fashion accessory but has the power of protection.

Her mother Suzi and partner David Free thought her homework was too good an idea just to hand into school, so decided to take it a step further. They have had the product manufactured with full CE approval and it is being launched into the market place. They believe the personal attack alarm is not only suitable for teens, but women of all ages especially shift/night workers like hospital staff. It features a high level 120 decibel alarm, easily activated by pulling a tag and has a high power LED torch. Squeeze the paw and the torch in the nose lights up. It is available from www.keepmesafealarms.com at £8.99.

Suzi Smyth says "The benefit of this particular alarm is the "look" and the fact it can simply be clipped onto any school bag or handbag so it is in easy reach within seconds, unlike other plastic unattractive alarms which are thrown into handbags and get lost inside. When you look at the crime statistics* the alarm gives the holder the advantage of surprise while attracting attention and providing vital seconds that could make all the difference for girls and women travelling alone."

Benefits of the product:
* Great fashion accessory with the power of protection
* Gives you peace of mind while travelling
* Close at hand at all times, can be attached to your bag and not lost inside
* Features a high level 120 decibel alarm to give you those vital seconds to disorient any attacker
* Easily activated by pulling the 'Keep Me Safe' tag
* High power LED torch in nose for 'instant light'
* Replaceable batteries

Forrest's great new design has earned her a commendation from her head teacher. Simon Uttley, her head teacher at St Paul's Catholic College in Sunbury-on-Thames, says "As a school, we want our young people to be safe and happy. Children face complex risks nowadays and our work in championing online child protection at St Paul's is a testimony to how seriously we take this as a community. Forrest has been ingenious in creating an attractive product that will both appeal to young people and also help them to manage their safety. We are very proud of her for what she has achieved and very pleased that she has helped keep the issue of safety in the spotlight."
