For a healthy life the news is that kids should be doing 60 minutes activity 7 days a week and swimming is seen as the perfect solution. But what happens if “Your child is afraid of the water & can’t swim?” Don’t panic!

You could checkout swimming lessons at your local leisure centre. Often the lowest in price in the area, it will mean your children are learning an essential life skill and being active, getting a good workout without undue strain on muscles and joints.

Here are some top tips of what to look for when choosing swimming lessons

  1. Waiting lists – centre’s may operate them, but why wait? Choose a centre that can accommodate your children when you want!
  2. Don’t be afraid to start your kids as young as possible, ask about mother & toddler sessions.
  3. Busy parents need loads of flexibility - so pick a pool with plenty on offer.
  4. Quality standards count - teaches should be ASA qualified, as a minimum.
  5. Usually there should be badges and certificates to collect.
  6. It is great if there are other water based sports to try, like, snorkelling, diving, canoeing, synchronised swimming or water polo.
  7. Ask your friends with kids to recommend a good local lesson programme

Or try Everyone Active Swimming. They recognise that it is important to develop water confidence and safety skills from as young as 4 months so that kids can enjoy swimming for the rest of their lives as a fun, healthy and enjoyable activity.

Renowned nationally, over 45,000 students are learning to swim each week coached by their highly trained ASA qualified teachers. The lessons last 30 minutes and are available 7 days a week. With courses running throughout the year it is possible to enroll at anytime. Visit www.everyoneactive.com for more details.
