Kids missing out on practical skills at school

British children could be missing out on practical skills they need to make it in the real world.  85% of Brits think kids should be taught more about cooking and baking at school rather than purely focusing on intellectual study. 

Research conducted by Dr. Oetker SuperCook, shows modern-day parents lack both the time and confidence to teach their kids to cook.  63% of adults learned their baking skills from their mother, but nearly 1 in 5 said they didn’t feel they had the time or the necessary skills to pass that knowledge onto their children.

The thought of washing up afterwards is also getting in the way of family bonding time in the kitchen.  Nearly a third say they are put off by the thought of having to wash dirty dishes.

This said, all is not lost.  A third say people who bake actually make better parents and over a quarter of Brits say their fondest childhood memories are of being in the kitchen baking with their parents or grandparents. 

Furthermore, an increasing number of young dads are following in the footsteps of Jamie Oliver with 63% of British men saying they bake more often than their dads did.  Baking is both a practical skill and an opportunity to bond with the family.  So how can parents make time to teach their kids to cook?
