Feeding the Ducks? Beak Careful!

Everyone loves feeding ducks. It’s fun to throw some tasty bread and watch them happily gobble it down. But get this: bread is bad news for a duck’s tummy!

So if you’re planning a picnic for your feathered friends this Easter, it’s time to go beyond the breadcrumb. Check out our special menu of quacking healthy duck treats here. They’ll add extra wiggle to their waddle and put an even bigger smile on their face.

Here at the Canal & River Trust, we look after 2000 miles of waterways across the country. It’s our job to keep all the towpaths, locks and bridges we love in tip-top condition. And we want our waterways to be fun for everyone – including our animal pals.

Get out there this May!
From adventure trails and hidden histories, to fun events and family walks, there’s so much to see and do. So get out there and take a fresh look at your local waterway this Easter and see what’s happening where you are.

You can download the Places to Visit app free from the App Store and a free regional guide at canalrivertrust.org.uk/regional-guide. This guide features a selection of the best waterside places to visit in your area whatever the weather! Each location includes a map, suggestions of fun-packed activities you can do and useful information on where to park, places to eat, toilets and boat trips.
