ADVICE SESSIONS WILL HELP PARENTS KEEP THEIR KIDS SAFE ONLINE
Internet Matters joins forces with Dixons Carphone to launch ‘Digital Drop-in’s’ for parents at Currys PC World and Carphone Warehouse stores across the country
Stores to host free drop-in sessions giving practical advice to parents and guardians on child internet safety
Staff will provide free set up safe service to help parents set up devices safely
Dixons Carphone has teamed up with Internet Matters to launch free digital drop-in sessions for parents on how to keep their children safe online. Sessions will be run in 50 of the retailers largest stores.
Parents will be able to find their nearest session via the dedicated website: internetmatters.org/digitaldropin, before walking into their local Carphone Warehouse and Currys PC World stores to speak to in-store KnowHow team for practical tips about online safety.
From April 24th to 28th, parents and guardians can attend a 30 minute session to learn about what their children may be doing online, how to set up parental controls and privacy settings, as well as how to be more involved in their child’s digital lives. Visitors can bring in their own devices or learn how to set up products they have purchased in-store.
The stores KnowHow team will provide parents with a simple checklist to take home on setting parental controls on devices in the home, such as broadband and home computers.

Many will be buying smartphones or tablets for their children but might need a helping hand with how to make sure they are safe when they go online. The Digital Drop-ins will be an opportunity for parents lear about keeping their children safe online.
