Meet the Penguins
The first group of Gentoo Penguins to take up residence in England are strutting their stuff at the SEA LIFE London Aquarium. Visitors can get “face to beak” with the new residents in an icy viewing cave with massive windows onto the Penguins’ specially created Antarctic style home. Gentoos are the acrobats of the Penguin world, famed for their swimming and diving prowess and the group’s names reflect their athletic status with the line-up including Tom for Tom Daley, Jessica for Jessica Ennis and Bolt for Usain Bolt!
The Penguins’ home is the centre piece to Penguins: Ice Adventure, a major new Antarctic themed area at The SEA LIFE London Aquarium which gives guests a small taste of the most inhospitable place on Earth. As well as lots of facts and fun information about the region, there is a recreation of an Antarctic Research Station, a freezing ice wall and icy touch pool plus some other creatures from the area including stunning Antarctic Sea Anemones and a pair of huge Japanese Spider Crabs.
