SCHOOL CHILDREN USE THEIR TECHNOLOGY SKILLS TO SELL UNWANTED GIFTS AND TOYS ONLINE
Children from schools across the UK can now use their computer skills to sell or swap unwanted gifts and toys online in a bid to get to raise some cash and make mum and dad happy by clearing out their bedrooms at the same time!
An innovative new website – Jumbleworld.com - is giving children the opportunity to trade with each other in a safe (no over 18s) environment, whilst improving their understanding of IT and how it can be used to their own personal benefit. During after-school computer club sessions - offered to children aged 9 -11 years – pupils can enjoy learning about selling their unwanted toys and games online and once at home can also take part in the other fun activities associated with Jumbleworld.com, such as competitions.
Mark Pearce, a class teacher at St Cuthbert with St Matthias CE Primary School, London, SW5 working with the project said:
“I was very pleased to see the interest and level of excitement generated in our students involved in Jumbleworld. The children enthusiastically participated and willingly shared their thoughts and opinions about the site. Their comments were well received and constructively discussed. The children were very interested in the possibilities provided by Jumbleworld to earn extra pocket money by trading and selling their unwanted items. A lot of very enthusiastic children brought the excitement into the playground at break time”.
Jumbleworld.com is easy to join and needs full parental consent and contact details at the point of registration before any child can trade online. All transactions are done via the tried and trusted PayPal system.
