England and Chelsea star Frank Lampard Joins Young Football Talent at Wembley to Help Celebrate the One Million Milestone of National Football Skills Programme

22 talented young footballers from across the country were given the opportunity of a lifetime to join England and Chelsea star Frank Lampard at Wembley Stadium this week, to help celebrate the milestone of one million children taking part in The FA Tesco Skills Programme.

The children – all of whom have successfully taken part in the programme – joined the England midfielder and Skills Programme ambassador Lampard at Wembley, where they got to showcase their talents under the shadow of the stadium’s famous arch and take part in a special skills session.

The FA Tesco Skills Programme gives 5-11 year olds the opportunity to develop their football technique under the The FA’s Skills Coaches, through after-school activities, holiday skills sessions and roadshows. Two years on from its launch, the programme has been a resounding success and has helped over a million boys and girls from different backgrounds and levels of ability to get active, increase their confidence and become better players, as well as enable them to receive high-quality coaching that they might otherwise not have had access to.

The programme has already provided some fantastic stories of success – such as 10 year old Jake Eggleton from Kent, who attended the Dartford Skills Centre before being signed to West Ham United’s Academy; 10 year old Joshua Waddingham from York; and Nottinghamshire’s Jordan Haywood, who at just 5 years of age has been selected by Nottingham Forest to play in a development squad with children 2 years older than him.
