Cycle and Explore the Isle of Sheppey
Come and explore the Isle of Harty Trail (9.5km) and Sheerness Way (9km) - two fantastic new family cycle routes on the Isle of Sheppey. The Isle of Harty Trail starts in Leysdown, a small but lively seaside resort, with a fine sand and shell beach, perfect for families. If wildlife tickles your fancy try spotting one of the birds of prey swooping across the reed beds and visit the RSPB Raptor Viewpoint for a closer look. Have an adventure on the Isle of Harty Trail and the Sheerness Way.
For fascinating history as well as seaside fun, try the Sheerness Way. As you cycle across the sea wall look out to sea, you may glimpse the masts of a sunken World War II vessel, the SS Richard Montgomery. It is still loaded with explosives but it’s too close to Sheerness to be blown up safely! Follow the 3km long Queenborough Lines, which in the past helped to defend Sheerness from invasion.
