Things to do in UK

Summer is finally here and as most of us look forward to enjoying a relaxing break, a holiday can also be a stressful time too.

After spending many a sodden weekend fighting to erect a tent against howling winds, my daughter Holly and I, were quite happy to leave the canvas and pegs at home and venture down the A30 to the centre of Cornwall to collect our travelling companion for a few days.

Whether you want to explore the culture and heritage, or the unique festivals or even a nice romantic weekend away there is a lot on offer from Ireland that you won’t find on a holiday in Great Britain.

That’s it. You’ve booked time off from work, the children have broken up from school and now you find yourself in a privileged position of being able to decide how and where to spend this wonderfully precious time together.

The key to a good holiday is solid preparation. From learning about the destination to understanding the local culture. Worryingly though, many Brits find themselves in trouble because a lack of knowledge.

With both the May half-term and long summer holidays around the corner, most of us are already preoccupied with planning how to keep the kids entertained and engaged.

Although you want to keep the kids entertained over the holidays, day-trips out with the family can be a nightmare if you don’t plan them properly.  Above all you want the kids to have a good time and stay safe. The question is: How do you turn this into a reality with minimum effort?

Our Best Holiday Competition is inspiring some of you to start taking holidays here is an email from one of them, thanks for sending it in we love to hear from you:-

After reading through all your entries it really inspired me to book a holiday next year, I loved reading about Lapland and  Mr Alistair Macrae’s experience there so think of me with my children having a great time in the snow before they out grow the magic.

Kind Regards

Miss Claire Fletcher
