Pavilion Theatre Ticket Winners – December 11

One of the winners of a family ticket to see The Magical Adventures of Peter Pan was so thrilled, she sent us a thank you note: “Thank you so much. We were over the moon to win tickets to see Peter Pan at the Pavilion Theatre. We had an amazing time, our seats were perfect in the front stalls, the sets and special effects were superb, the costumes were colourful and glittery and all the actors and dancers were absolutely wonderful.  It was a lovely start to the Christmas season and we can’t thank the Pavilion and Primary Times enough for this wonderful opportunity to see this fantastic show”. From Francesca Rowney, Lisa Currie and Adam Stewart all age 11 New Monkland Primary School, Glenmavis.

 St Angela's Surprise

Thirty youngsters from St Angela’s Primary School in Glasgow and their teacher Mrs McCue visited Hamley’s magical grotto after winning a Glasgow city-wide council schools competition. The children who had to paint or draw their favourite things about Christmas, were chosen from hundreds of entries from primary schools desperate to meet Santa. They each spent time with Santa, told him their Christmas wishes and then enjoyed a special Santa tea including Christmas tree pizza and macaroni cheese sprinkled with fairy dust! Bailie Jean McFadden, Executive Member for Education said: “This was a lovely way to begin the countdown to Christmas for these lucky children and the school.”

 Fruitful Schools

Fruitful Schools www.fruitfulschools.com inspires schools to create orchards and fruitful lives for pupils and the wider community.  We have experience of developing school orchards and food growing projects for a wide variety of schools. Planting fruit trees has proved a really good way of starting schools growing their own food. It’s simple, practical, is a gift to the future and is fun. We are keen to encourage parents and schools to help, share information and support each other. We have therefore developed the idea of “daisy-chaining” where we help the first school to plant a school orchard, on the understanding that they will help the next school in the chain to plant their orchard. We are trying to create fruitful schools and fruitful lives for all our children. We can’t do it all ourselves, but with daisy-chains we can unleash the power of fruit for all forever. Tree planting season lasts until end of March – so there is still time for your school to get an orchard pack from us, and get it planted this year. If you’d like more info – or to order one of our orchard packs email John@fruitfulschools.com
