Alice reader review

Alice

Review:

This is a condensed version of Alice Through the Looking Glass, it only lasts for 45 minutes but is completely enjoyable throughout. Alice is portrayed as a strong and expressive character who reacts brilliantly to each weird situation she finds herself in.

There are only 4 actors and a musician, they play a range of recognisable characters in a very original and fun way. We both particularly loved the two Queens who were played hilariously by two of the male actors. The Red Queen was bang on trend with a beard and was still believable as a feminine character! My daughters favourite part was the funny way they walked off and the party scene which as Alice states is like no other party she had been to.

There was a lot of singing which was very good, particularly when the guitarist sang, but the highlights were definitely the strange characterisations performed brilliantly by the small cast. The  Two Flowers marked the real start of the world through the looking glass, their facial expressions and movement was genius. All the people who appeared after this such as Tweedledum and Tweedledee helped bring to life a weird unexpected world, created purely through their acting as no scenery and very minimal props were involved.

There was also a great theme throughout about being true to yourself, and being happy with who you are which was delivered brilliantly. The only complaint would be that it could have been longer. Well done for a great show.
