A little Princess Childrens Choice Award review

A Little Princess

Review:

The use of puppets helps to amuse even young children. When entering the room we were welcomed by the very friendly monkey puppet. This monkey had a big role in the show and if not her, poor Sara might have never been found by her dad's friend. Emily (5) said "I really liked the monkey. She was so friendly". The other puppet was a rat. He appeared when poor Sara was made to live in the attic. Despite other people were scared of him, Sara was not and they soon became friends. The rat was a good-natured creature. I think it was a perfect example for the children that they should never judge a book by its cover.

The layout of the room let us be part of Sara’s journey. The stage was quite small and the chairs were very close to it. Therefore everything that was happening was just centimetres away from us and we could feel like being a part of the show. Furthermore, the cast interacted with the audience. We were playing our own part. For example, we were invited to pretend we are buying some rolls. Emily (5) felt very proud when she was asked to guard Sara's letter. The scenery was quite simple but good enough to make the show feel so real. The scenery was changed when it became dark in the room and we could not see anything when the skilful actors were putting everything in the total darkness. It was quite amazing. The young people performing in the show were not only great actors but also incredibly talented singers.

Our young reviewers said:

Anna (8)“ I was crying when poor Sara lost her father and this lady became so nasty to her but I became very happy when the dad's friend saved the Little Princess. " Emily (5) I did not like the lady .She was so nasty"
