Win A Set of Classic Movies from FILMCLUB’s ‘Music In Film’ Season
In support of ‘Tune In’ - the government’s recently launched ‘National Year of Music’ - FILMCLUB, the popular after-school club which offers FREE access to thousands of classic and popular movies as well as to industry news, events and talent, is running an exciting programme of activities to encourage children to appreciate music in film.
To coincide with the DCSF initiative, which aims to showcase the wide range of music-related experiences available to young people and encourage each one of them to get involved in music, FILMCLUB has launched a special ‘MUSIC IN FILMS’ season of films – featuring titles such as Hitchcock’s masterpiece Vertigo and the atmospheric 2001 - A Space Odyssey – in which music and on-screen images work together to create a dramatic effect.
As part of its Close Encounters programme which enables children to interact with the world of film, FILMCLUB is also arranging a series of ‘Music In Film’ school visits by leading film composers and orchestrators – including Oscar-winning composer, Dario Marianelli, (Atonement and Pride and Prejudice) and Seanine Joyce, who has worked on films such as Over The Hedge, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Corpse Bride.
Since FILMCLUB launched in 2008 the national scheme has welcomed over 2500 schools across the UK, with 75,000 children benefiting from the exposure to inspiring and potentially life changing films every week. Research shows the scheme has numerous educational and social benefits, including improving literacy and communication, boosting confidence, and integrating isolated and disengaged children.
