Win a copy of Ma'ats Feathers Book

Lovely children’s book set in Ancient Egypt

(7 – 11year olds)

As a young boy born to a farming family in ancient Egypt, Qen’s future seems to be mapped out for him. He wants nothing more than to join his father and older brother planting and harvesting the fertile land on the floodplain of the river Nile, and to be selected as part of the team helping to build a great temple.

Fate, however, has other things in store for the boy.  His older brother, Amenopet, wants more from life.

He dreams of a life of luxury, and sees Qen as his means of obtaining just that, involving Qen in an adventure he would much rather avoid.

Set in Ancient Egypt against its people’s belief in an afterlife to which fabulous riches could be taken, Ma’at’s Feather brilliantly portrays a heart-wrenching tale of an innocent youngster whose life is thrown off-course with terrible consequences.

Juliet Desailly lives in Crofton Park, London.  She has been involved in theatre companies since the mid 1980’s and has mainly taught in primary schools, and been a deputy headteacher of a school in Sydenham.  She has also written teacher’s notes for a TV music programme and a series of Infant History for BBC Radio.

What is the name of the author of this book?
