The 100 adventures in this book are designed to encourage other families to get out and do things together, to help adults and children alike to push their own comfort zones – even if it is just a little.
They are sorted into categories, for ease of reference, but are not presented in any particular order, so you can tackle them however suits you best.
The book is grouped into themes: Woodland, Water, Close to Home, Hills and Mountains, Exploring, By the Sea, Extreme Weather.
Within each section is a range in difficulty from sleeping in a wood or having a birthday party outdoors to scrambling up a stream, from exploring a rock pool to finding a waterfall or climbing a mini Matterhorn. Each activity has helpful and encouraging instructions from Tim and Kerry, tips and jokes from Amy and Ella.
Tim and Kerry Meek, teachers from Nottingham, are just regular parents striving to bring up their two daughters, Amy (10) and Ella (8), as best they can. Their approach to parenting is one full of love and care, but one that is also deliberately punctuated with managed risk and age-appropriate challenges.
